Field trip
A field trip for a limited number of participants is currently planned for September 10th–13th in Val di Fassa and neighboring areas, Western Dolomites, Italian Alps.
The field trip will include visits to some geological localities related to the Permo-Triassic sedimentary and magmatic sequence of Wester Dolomites. Examples of possible outcrops are sills, dikes, pillow lavas and subaerial eruptions, breccias, carbonate platforms, terrigenous to carbonatic and evaporitic sequences, and metamorphic aureoles. All surrounded by breathtaking views on the mountain peaks of Western Dolomites.
The hikes are easy, but will involve several hours/day of walking. The weather can change quickly and so all-weather hiking equipment is suggested.
